In short, yes, Pawtopia's certified 100% home compostable dog poop bags are 100% plastic free. To give you more details: Definition of plastic is a chemical-based synthetic material that uses polymer (i.e. PE, PP, PS, PVC etc). These are publically considered harmful materials to our environment due to their slow decomposition rate and toxic residues like microplastic. We've seen some products use EPI additives to solve the slow decomposition, but still leave toxic residues unsolved. Pawtopia's home compostable dog poop bags are made of bio-material that is compostable (Corn Starches, PLA, PBAT, etc). The certification we hold is from one of the globally renowned official bodies Tüv Austria, and it confirms and certifies that our bags are made of eco-friendly material (without plastic), and also tests/confirms that the actual residue from the decomposing of the material is non-toxic. Also, although this material is the best eco-friendly solution for the moment, it can tear or rip more easily than plastics due to its weak binding structure. Therefore, in order to assure the quality of our Pawtopia eco-friendly poop bags, we purposely keep the thickness of the bags 20 microns, so that our customers don't need to worry about ripping, tearing, and leaking.  

By using Pawtopia Home Compostable Pet Waste Bags, you will have the option to compost your pet waste at home. If you do not have a home compost system, it is recommended to dispose of pet waste in the regular trash bin rather than the curbside yard waste bin. Pawtopia compostable bags will still break down in the landfill but at a slower pace. However, choosing compostable pet waste bags is still an environmentally conscious approach because they do not emit microplastics when they break down and the production process does not generate carbon emissions like plastic bags do. 

Home compostable bags can fully decompose within 180 days when processed in a home composting facility. On the other hand, industrial compostable bags can break down in as little as 90 days within an industrial composting facility. The effectiveness of home composting, however, may vary among households due to differences in compost quality and prevailing weather conditions, whereas industrial composting benefits from optimal heat, moisture levels, and microbial activity, creating an ideal composting environment.

We process orders between Monday and Friday. Most orders placed before 2 pm (PST) from Monday to Friday (excluding federal holidays within the U.S.) will ship the same day. If you are not happy with your purchase and wish to return an item, please contact us within 30 days from receiving your order. Please provide your order number. Our customer service team will review the return request and will send further instructions once the return is approved.

All return shipping fees and other miscellaneous fees are the responsibility of the customer. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Please contact us within 7 days from receiving your order if you received merchandise that is incorrect, missing, and/or defective. Please include your order number, photographs of the item(s) and all related references upon receiving your package. We will do our very best to resolve your case as soon as possible.

Processing returns may take up to 14 business days from the day we receive your return. We will email you to confirm once your return has been processed.

All refunds will be credited to your original form of payment. If you paid by credit or debit card, refunds will be sent to the card-issuing bank within 7-10 business days of receipt of the returned item or cancellation request.
